are getting married in seven sleeps & on friday night it was rehearsal time. a gorgeous hot night & a chance for me to meet the rest of the bridal party. i am looking forward to capturing their day as they become husband & wife. forever. you can see the love in these photos & the happy times ahead.

{park play & ice cream in extra special cones that are usually not included in their allowed to be consumed food group! they loved me a little more this day for saying yes to the sprinkle cone}

{time spent in chapel st after a movie with uncle Jonny. my bro. photo booth photos mandatory}

{in search of ice cream. every big day out needs to be celebrated with ice cream!}

{testing out new textas. five of them are scented. the bikini clad babe is herself}

{slip n slide time. great way to cool down on a 34 degree day. pink hair is not her real hair. it's a hair piece she fell in love with at the toy shop while busy choosing the perfect toy with Granny & Grandad. it's the first thing to go on every day!}

{hot summer skies. just perfect. & the perfect dinner to enjoy on said day tacos & beer. yum!}

my girls & i are going to spend part of our day here

in an effort to soak up the last week & a half of the summer school holidays. the week ahead looks great weather wise & so we will be making the most of it {amongst trips to bunnings, the hairdressers for back to school cuts, the news agency for book list pick up, house work, swimming lessons etc etc...}

i have lots more of our summer holiday outings to share with you. but until then i'll be on the beach making sandcastles!

if i closed my eyes & tried hard enough i could have felt like i was actually in Italy. the Italian waiters had thick Italian accents. the menu had that authentic look & lists of authentic cuisine.

the pizza was just like it should be. tasty. fresh. big enough to be shared around the table. {mine had pureed broccoli & mozzarella & sausage meat. excellent combo!}

the shelves are covered in authentic Italian produce. i could have spent hours browsing the store & lots of money to take favourites home.

it's on my 'dream big' list. to spend some time in Italy. the last time i was there i was only 6 months old. but until then this is a little slice of Italy to visit while still on Australian shores.

my girls love staying at their Granny & Grandad's house

even more than living at home!

there's always fun to be had, swims in the pool, painting in the garden, lounging around on comfy couches watching tv, treats & snacks stocked in the pantry, anything they desire including lots of cuddles & love.

this week i stayed too & was spoilt just like them. being able to enjoy an evening walk {while they tucked the girls into bed} to the beach at the end of their street was bliss.

so here's a little taste of our mini break at the best place to spend some time away from home according to my girls {& me}.

& today has been a slow & steady day of packing up the Christmas tree, hanging out washing & hoping it dries in this strange & changeable weather, baking a pavlova for dessert tonight after tacos yes a strange combo but i am in a 'pavlova will not defeat me' kind of mood & am yearning to perfect it! my parents are coming for dinner so it was a good excuse to whip one up. the girls have been drawing, tv watching & walking around in my shoes all day long. the sky is grey but my phone is promising sunshine & warmth next week for at least 3 days. i hope it delivers. until then enjoy your weekends & here are some sun filled photos for those of you, like me who miss it!

i was a little girl Summer was Summer. the days were hot & sometimes the nights seemed hotter. we made trips to the supermarket to cool down. it was extra cold in the frozen food section! icy poles were a daily treat & the slip n slide was always set to go. Summer clothes were a staple & we never needed jumpers. but since my little girls have been growing up Summer to them can be a mixture of hot days. hot nights. cold days & rain. they are confused as they have a choice of Summer clothes one day & long sleeved tops the next. i long for those hot aussie Summer days that never end & hope they come back soon!

I love being a Mum & adore our 2 little girls

& I also love spending time with my husband

yesterday I packed the girls overnight bags for them to spend two nights with my parents. all four of them love hanging out together doing extra special baking, movie watching, swimming in the pool & being spoilt {as grandparents are entitled to do!}

I strolled around the shops finishing last minute Christmas shopping & needed to make several trips to the car with a trolley full of bean bag beans!

When my husband got home from work we made plans to head out for dinner. Just the two of us. Thai takeaway. By the sea. Then before we headed home to a quiet house, we stopped by the back beach to watch the sun set.

life has been crazy busy {as I am sure it is for everyone at this time of year}
& in between the trips to the library, Christmas concerts, swimming lessons, the morning rush to get to school on time, wrapping presents, making phone calls, photo sessions, & the rest of the daily life routine, I have been trying to take some deep breaths & appreciate the moments of resting.

today is the only day for the coming weeks we have no plans.
I am still in my pj's {at 11.38am} & the girls are keeping them selves entertained {for another 10mins before they need something?!} while my husband is working away on his shed rennovation!

my next job is to make some final lists for the week ahead & make sure the lead up to Christmas day is a peaceful one!!

a couple of friday nights ago we headed out as a family to have a bbq picnic dinner. we all jumped in the car & drove for about 15mins to a picnic spot that had a park {perfect for the girls to play while the sausages sizzle} & it had a great view {perfect for mum & dad to relax by} we had the place to ourselves & talked about how we should do it more often {especially with a group of friends} it was great to not have to do the cooking at home like usual or do the dishes! i had left my camera & iphone at home so i could just soak up the experience with out distraction.... but i felt lost without them & luckily my husband had his phone because i couldn't let the last bit of light from the day go to waste!

my gorgeous friend Nicole {we met in 1987. as we started high school together & she is still one of my closest friends today} asked me to photograph her family I was over the moon. and possibly a little more nervous than normal....the stakes were high! we planned to meet at a favourite spot of mine where I knew her boys would enjoy playing & exploring. they did amazingly well, were an honour to photograph & have made it hard for me to choose my favourites. so here is a select few of the images I hope will be placed upon their walls & cherished forever.

this little room is amazing

as my husband & I discovered while on holidays

he took me there on a date

so we could sit & relax with out little distractions

& drank the most decadent of hot chocolates {the belgian type}

& shared a plate of waffles m m m mmmmmm

it was all so tasty!

it was my favourite new place to visit

& we left feeling a little guilty we had experienced it with out our girls. so we made a date with them too!

How are you all on this Tuesday morning?

it's school holidays here so our days are a little less rushed & as I type the girls are making fairy puppets at the dining room table. still in their pj's. & we are making the most of a day at home with no real plans. the rest of the week is going to be full up. with appointments & playing with friends at the park. not having to do the school run morning & afternoon is refreshing!

i hope to share some more photos from our recent holiday away. but until then here are some newly found blogs I am loving. check them out!

while on our holidays we took a short drive to Geelong {in Victoria} home to these friendly peeps!!

along the sea front @ eastern beach you could almost feel like you were a million miles away soaking up the rays somewhere tropical

there is plenty to do

& see

a perfect spot to enjoy lunch & a ride on a carousel {more of that later!}

this weekend we celebrated a sixth birthday. I can't believe how fast my girl is growing up. She is such a happy. loving. gorgeous girl & I feel so blessed to be her Mumma.

My girls love to pick me flowers. I often find handfuls of wild daisies at the bottom of my handbags or in my jeans pockets. & of course if I ever try to quietly leave the flowers behind I get caught out every time!

strolling along the pier is something we don't do often enough. but when on holiday it seems to be something that comes naturally. time isn't on our minds as much. & chatting to local fishermen to discuss the catch of the day is a favourite past time of my husband. he loves to know & learn. i often stroll behind stopping to take in all the details & enjoy documenting the scenery.

day one of our holiday meant packing up the car & heading down to the ferry. which we lOVE to travel on especially at the start of a holiday. it helps us feel we are going further away than we really are!

& despite a few drops of rain it was smooth sailing all the way to the other side of the bay. where we found our home away from home, unpacked & started to explore the new surroundings.

it's always good to get away. time off from the daily routine, chores & home life. we try to have a holiday every year & often end up at a holiday spot that has a beach! {just so we have a little piece of home close by} for the past two weeks we have been holidaying & enjoying new sights, early morning walks, less cooking, more reading & time together as a family. I am looking forward to sharing some of our holiday snaps with you all. But for now it's time for me to go & get the school gear ready & pack a lunch box &.......get back to reality!

pizza making 101

when my cousin Louise was visiting us from the UK recently we had pizza making evenings that ensured full tummies, delicious smells & flour from one end of the kitchen to the other! It was lots of fun & Lou is pizza dough maker extraordinaire. {she is lucky enough to visit Italy annually - so jealous!} My husband is keen to build a pizza oven one day so we can enjoy alfresco dining at its best, outdoors with lots of friends, yummi pizzas & memories of Lou's visit & her teaching us the art of pizza dough tossing!

sports day

last week was my eldest daughters first school sports day
we popped to the footy oval for an hour or so
just to make sure she was having fun! & to make sure she knew we were interested in her athleticism
she loved the day it was sunny, clear blue skies & all the participants were given icy poles at lunch time to keep them cool
her house team is yellow hence the abundance of yellow ribbons in her hair

I think she is following in my foot steps of loving the discus, hurdles & relay the most. Did you have a favourite athletics event when you were at school?

my girls love spending time with their Granny {my Mum} especially at the beach & as long as the sun is shining socks & shoes always come off for a paddle in the often very cold water! I enjoy watching them!
